The Sun StorageTek (Oracle) T10000 T10K data cartridge (P/N 003-0519-02) is the original T1 enterprise tape made for StorageTek T10000A and T10000B drives. It holds 500GB of uncompressed data when written on a T10000A drive and 1TB when written on a T10000B drive, so one cartridge serves both drive generations.
Built for enterprise tape libraries
The T10000 platform was designed for large Oracle and StorageTek libraries such as the SL3000 and SL8500, where cartridges are loaded and unloaded by robots many times a day. The T10K cartridge uses a single-reel design with a durable leader and a protected tape path, which helps it handle frequent mounts in busy data centers.
Keep legacy archives readable
Many organizations still keep years of backups and archived records on T10000A and T10000B media. New T10K cartridges let you keep those drives in service, replace worn or damaged tapes, and add capacity to an existing library without moving to a new format. Custom EDP barcode labels are available, so cartridges can arrive ready to load.
Ideal for:
What is the capacity of a T10000 T10K 500GB cartridge?
The cartridge stores 500GB of uncompressed data when it is written on a StorageTek T10000A drive. When the same T1 cartridge is written on a T10000B drive, it stores 1TB uncompressed. The drive decides the format, so a cartridge written on a T10000B drive is formatted for 1TB.
Which tape drives work with this cartridge?
This T1 cartridge is made for StorageTek T10000A and T10000B drives. The newer T10000C and T10000D drives write to a different cartridge, the T10000 T2 (P/N 003-5366-01). If you have upgraded or plan to upgrade to T10000C or T10000D drives, choose T2 media for new backups.
What is the difference between part numbers 003-0519-01 and 003-0519-02?
Both part numbers refer to the standard T10000 T1 data cartridge with the same 500GB and 1TB native capacities. The difference is the production revision. Both work in T10000A and T10000B drives.
Is this a WORM cartridge?
No. This is the standard rewritable T10000 data cartridge, so it can be erased and reused. StorageTek offers separate VolSafe cartridges for write-once, read-many (WORM) storage when records must not be changed or deleted.
Can you add barcode labels to the cartridges?
Yes. Big Data Supply can apply custom EDP barcode labels so the cartridges match your library's volume serial numbering and are ready to load into the robot as soon as they arrive.
