This 20-pack of new HP LTO-7 Ultrium 7 data cartridges (P/N C7977AN) gives each tape 6TB of uncompressed and 15TB of compressed capacity, for a total of 120TB native across the pack. Buying 20 at once is a simple way to stock a tape library or set up a full backup rotation in one order.
Speed and reliability for daily backup
LTO-7 drives write to these cartridges at up to 300 MB/s uncompressed and up to 750 MB/s compressed. HP uses barium ferrite tape, which keeps data stable over time and supports an archival life of up to 30 years when stored correctly. Each cartridge supports AES 256-bit drive encryption and LTFS (Linear Tape File System) for file-level access.
TAA compliant for public-sector buyers
These cartridges are TAA compliant, which means they meet the US Trade Agreements Act rules for products bought by federal agencies and many government contractors. The pack ships with standard, non-custom labels. Custom EDP barcode labels are available on request if your library needs a specific numbering scheme.
Ideal for:
What is the capacity of an HP LTO-7 tape?
Each HP LTO-7 cartridge holds 6TB of uncompressed data, or up to 15TB compressed at a 2.5:1 ratio. A pack of 20 gives you 120TB of native capacity. Actual compressed capacity depends on the type of data you back up.
Which drives can use LTO-7 cartridges?
LTO-7 cartridges work in LTO-7 drives and can also be read and written by LTO-8 drives. An LTO-8 drive can format a new LTO-7 cartridge as LTO-7 Type M, raising its capacity to 9TB. LTO-9 drives cannot read LTO-7 cartridges.
What does TAA compliant mean?
TAA compliant means the product meets the US Trade Agreements Act, which requires products bought by the federal government to be made or substantially changed in the US or an approved country. Agencies and contractors that buy under GSA schedules often need TAA compliant media.
What does "non-custom labeled" mean?
The cartridges ship with standard labels instead of barcode labels printed for your library's volume serial numbers. If your library uses barcodes to track tapes, Big Data Supply can supply custom EDP barcode labels on request.
Will these HP LTO-7 tapes work in a non-HP drive?
Yes. LTO is an open standard, so HP LTO-7 cartridges work in any LTO-7 or LTO-8 drive, including IBM, Quantum, Dell, and Oracle drives and libraries.
